HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR TRYOUTS?
Register online to ensure a quick check-in process at tryouts. It's $20 to pre-register online and $25 to register online on the day of tryouts. Cash or check is not accepted at the field on the day of tryouts.
All registration fees are non-refundable.
WHAT HAPPENS AT TRYOUTS?
Arrive 20–25 minutes early to check in each day. Each player is assigned a numbered tryout jersey to be worn on both days. Players are identified by that jersey number during tryouts by check-in staff. Families must remember that tryout number, as players will return the shirt after each day and receive the same number/jersey on day 2.
IMPORTANT: Your player’s tryout number is how results are posted—please remember it.
TRYOUT FORMAT
After all players have checked in, a tryout facilitator will call participants onto the field to provide instructions. Players will be placed into small-sided games on day 1. During the session, players will move from field to field to be evaluated by as many coaches as possible.
On day 2, we will proceed to larger-sided games for the player’s respective age group (7v7, 9v9, or 11v11).
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TRYOUTS ARE COMPLETED?
Following the final tryout session on day 2 for your child’s age group, head coaches will confirm their selections with the Director of Coaching.
Player selections will be posted on the Crossfire Select website the next day. Players selected to a team will be listed by their assigned tryout number.
Families/players must respond to the coach via email within 24 hours to accept or decline the position. Failure to respond may result in the coach offering the position to an alternate player, so please ensure we have your correct email.
If you do not see your player’s number listed on the website, then your child was not selected for a team. Once teams are finalized the coach will set up a team formation meeting with the next steps.
WHAT DOES “ALTERNATES” MEAN?
The club may post alternate numbers on the website (tryouts page) for some teams. These players have not yet been selected for a team but may be invited if a selected player declines a spot.
Alternate players will be contacted by a club coach via email, text, or phone call. Alternate numbers are listed in ascending order; however, this does not guarantee the order in which players will be selected.
CAN PLAYERS BE ADDED TO ROSTERS AFTER TRYOUTS?
Yes, players can be added to rosters throughout the year if space is available. We typically post on our website after tryouts if openings remain.
I REGISTERED FOR TRYOUTS BUT CANNOT MAKE IT. CAN I GET A REFUND?
All registration fees are non-refundable. No exceptions.
WHAT IF MY CHILD CAN’T ATTEND TRYOUTS DUE TO INJURY OR SICKNESS?
If your child is injured or sick and unable to attend tryouts, families may coordinate with a team/coach if there is space after tryouts. The player may have an opportunity to attend a team training session and be evaluated for placement.
DOES MY CHILD NEED TO ATTEND BOTH DAYS?
We strongly encourage all players to attend both days. This allows coaches and evaluators to assess players over a longer period.
If your child cannot attend both days, please inform the check-in staff on whichever day your child attends so they can notify the coaches.
WHAT DO THE COACHES LOOK FOR DURING TRYOUTS?
Players are evaluated based on their technical and tactical abilities, as well as effort and attitude. Assistant coaches will also be present to provide input and feedback to head coaches.
CAN I PLAY FOR AN OLDER TEAM?
The club encourages players to try out in their own age group, though players may be selected to play up a year based on skill level. Players cannot try out for a younger age group. Please review our policy on playing up.
