CROSSFIRE SELECT TRYOUTS
All current covid protocols at the time of tryouts will be followed.
Crossfire Select is a competitive soccer program that serves young soccer players who are interested in receiving high quality training, competitive league play within a structure that encourages multi-sport athletes and other activities outside of year-round soccer.
Players are strongly encouraged to attend both days of tryouts. If you can attend only one day or need to arrive late, please let check-in staff know. No make-up tryouts will be held.
Register online to ensure a quick check-in process at tryouts. You'll need to create an account online if you do not already have one. There is a $20 registration fee to pre-register online, and it's $25 to register online on the day of tryouts. No cash or checks will be accepted at the field. Please note: we cannot issue refunds.
Please arrive 15-20 minutes early to check in each day. Each player will receive a jersey on the first day, to wear during tryouts. Players must return the jersey after each tryout session, and will be issued the same-numbered jersey for the second day of tryouts.
Tryout numbers are used by coaches when making player selections and when posting player selection online. Make sure to make note of your player's jersey number.
Players are strongly encouraged to attend both days of tryouts. If you can attend only one session or arriving late, please let check-in staff know. No make-up tryouts will be held.
TIME & DURATION
Tryouts generally consist of two sessions, one per day, each 75-90 minutes.
WHAT TO WEAR
Players must wear appropriate soccer footwear, shin guards and bring their own water bottle. Players may not wear jewelry of any kind. This includes necklaces, rings, earrings, or bracelets of any kind (including rubber bracelets).
Players may NOT wear current club or ODP affiliated clothing. This includes Crossfire Premier and Crossfire Select clothing. Players doing so may be asked to remove such items during tryouts. Tryouts are held rain or shine.
After all player have checked in, a Tryout Facilitator will call participants onto the field to provide players with tryout instructions. Players will be put into small-sided games, and potentially full field games (7v7, 9v9, or 11v11) for assessment by Crossfire Select coaches.
During the course of the tryout sessions players will move from field to field to be evaluated by as many coaches as possible. All players will be evaluated based on their technical, tactical, attitude/effort, and focus/concentration. We will have extra coaches on site evaluating players to provide input and feedback for Head Coaches.
Following the final tryout session for your age group, the coaches will confirm their selections with the Coaching Director. Players are selected for teams by the Head Coaches. Player selections will be posted on the Crossfire Select website within a few days of tryouts.
Players will be listed by their assigned jersey numbers from tryouts. Players must respond to the coach via email within 24 hours to accept or decline the position. Failure to respond may mean that the coach offers the position to an alternate player. If you do not see your player's jersey number listed on the website, he/she was not selected for a team.
Some teams will post Alternate numbers. These players have not been selected for a team, but if a selected player declines an invitation, an alternate player may be invited to join the team.
Alternate numbers are listed in ascending order. (Being first in the list of alternates does not necessarily indicate that that player will be the first player selected in the event a player declines.)
TEAM ROSTER SIZES
* U15 and older will have a roster of 18 players and can go as high as 22 players. Rosters can only have 18 players for games.
* U13-14 teams will have a maximum of 18 players
* U11 and U12 (play 9v9) teams will have a maximum roster of 14 players
* U10 (play 7v7) teams will have a maximum roster of 12 players
The Club encourages players to tryout in their own age group unless playing in an older age group is in the best interest of the player, and is supported by both parents and coaches.
Players may tryout for an older age group, but not a younger age group.
